You started coming on really borg with us lately.
They found him wandering round Regent's Park with a cheap bottle of sherry...

And like a fool I mixed them and it strangled up my mind, and now people just get uglier and I have no sense of time...

Well I got it free because I am friends with my local newsagent bloke. He gave me three copies and the Culture Magazine.

As stated earlier in the thread, the only extra is the Blu-ray trailer which I have put on YouTube:

You can read the article from the Culture Magazine by clicking the small version here:

Apologies for the weird lines and colour inconsistencies, I had to scan it in three parts due to its awkward size. Bonus points if you can spot the pube :D

I'm with you. I was highly suspicious there would be any additional new material. For me, the mere fact it was a freebie rang alarm bells. (Why would there be any new material on a freebie?). Which is why I did not go on a three-mile round-trip to the newsagents this morning. I was waiting for the feedback on here. So thanks for saving me the journey everyone!

It's a common trick played by the press. But often the smallprint gives it away. It depends what your original source said. Was it an advert on the telly? What did it actually say?

Thanks for posting those, crooked.

The new material - the article - was mainly a rehash of old stuff.

New stuff I DID learn:
*New quotes from Jackson
*Claims that, despite various DVD releases etc, 'Withnail' has not really, when you look at it, made much money
(I believe BR would dispute that.)
*'The Rum Diary' has finished shooting.

never realised that the W&I Ray Cooper is the same Ray Cooper who has worked with the Stones, Floyd, Clapton, etc as percussionist (the bald guy at the back with the bongos).
Not sure that that little snippet was worth a coupla quid though.

I knew that Robinson had, at some point, been on a disaterous trip to the countryside with David Dundas. I had no idea, however, that they actually drove a Jag like Marwood's up there and it belonged to his girlfriend of the time. Interesting that he had a girlfriend at the time, seeing as he once said that due to their financial situation (i.e. his own) Withnail and Marwood couldn't afford to have girlfriends/boyfriends (depending on if you think they are gay or not).

I bought a copy of the Sunday Times as I like to collect anything on "W & I" maybe it gives the great film even more gravitas if more copies were sold on Sunday than usual!
Bruce went up to the Lake District with Michael Feast not David Dundas.
If I see that silage heap hanging around up here.....

I've heard the girlfriend's jag thing before, can't remember where.

Robinson said that due to the financial situation of his friends and himself they could not afford girls. He has also said that his relationship with Lesley was financed by her, not him.

Sorry I'm a bit late to this. I have been off in the country-side for some time. But thanks Crooked for the links.

It's sad to read that the creators of the film are denied their financial dues. I for one do not believe that DVD copies and rentals do not provide significant residuals. I know many people here in the far colonies who have seen the film over and over via video and now DVD rental.

But fuck, am I glad also to read that the Withnail part DID NOT go to Nighy, Branagh or Day-Lewis...

Put it this way: this forum would probably not exist.
