Horse meat scandal

PostPosted by oomska » Sat Feb 16, 2013 3:09 pm

With all this scandal hanging over the UK food Industry Iam now very oncerned that there may be traces of Horse meat in my Soylent Green ...... and on a hoof note (sorry about that one) I`m pretty sure that this would make Sarah J Parker and Camilla P Bowles cannibals if they had of indulged themselves.

But seriously who knows how long its been going on we could have been saddled with it for Donkey`s years.

So has anyone knowingly tried horse meat and what was it like?

I think I had horse meat as a youth, in a lasagna.

I've also had elk meat at a church supper.

Can't really recommend either now, I'm mostly vegetarian.

I had moose steak from Lidl once, it was lovely. I'd try horse steak.
They found him wandering round Regent's Park with a cheap bottle of sherry...

And like a fool I mixed them and it strangled up my mind, and now people just get uglier and I have no sense of time...

my mrs had horse meat in france several years ago. she said it was exactly the same as beef. she enjoyed it. cant see what all the fuss is about, if you eat pig, sheep and cow then whats wrong with horse?

It's that you have some right to know what you're eating. I wouldn't be fussed about eating horse, but I would be rather narked if I was lied to. Although type of stuff it was in the definition of meat is rather stretched anyway.

If someone made me eat cat, however, I would kill people.

The fuss is also about the fact that the horses that have made their way into the food chain are not subject to the same DEFRA rules regarding the drugs that they are allowed to be given and chemicals in their feed etc. Also pets.
