punctuation, grammar and spelling

PostPosted by jeff wode » Mon Apr 01, 2013 9:56 pm

ive just had a post removed from this forum by a mod. the reason, i posted something in another thread and the mod chose to correct my spelling (i had written words, instead of word) i then told him basically to stop being a nob about such a piffling matter. he removed both posts, and sent me a pm basically saying that i lower the tone by not punctuating spelling and being gramatically precise. his assumption was that i was a bit thick (his precise words) and he rambled on about me lowering the standards, not being clear etc etc etc. so ive fired off a response which in short is a big 'go fuck yourself' i couldnt care less about this level of anoraky pedantry. i post like i do because i post like i do. if he wants to go spellcheck and puntuate and capitalise evrything he posts, then good for him. he seems to have no problem understanding my posts otherwise he wouldnt get so annoyed by them. so what do we think? is this place to be treated like an entrance exam to a poncy college, doi need to go get a degree before im allowed to post, does anyone else here aside from this one individual give a flying fuck? am i on the brink of a forum ban because i refuse to follow the grammar nazis hardline? will this thread last the night? comments please, you can even punctuate and capitalise if you are that way inclined, i wont cast aspersions on you for it if you do.

I can't do sums and have trouble posting images and links properly. Perhaps I'll be booted next?

No one has been banned. I just told him to fuck off. It's up to him whether to take the hint.

Check it out, I can get on the forums in work while I'm sat lurking in my office. :D

Mitchell and Webb is a nice addition to my day. Sir Digby Chicken Ceaser is my favourite, sometimes when I'm at the gym I like to sing his little theme musical humming in my head and pretend I'm a tramp running from the law.

Also, all of you arguing... COOL YOUR BOOTS, MAN.

Jeff, the odd capital letter wouldn't go amiss at the start of a sentence, squire. But, that aside, your grammar seems pretty good to me - in internet terms, anyway.

I edit a magazine and a daily newspaper for a living.

Crooked is definitely a Nazi but instead of seeing red like the rest of his ilk when you don't agree with him, he sees grey. Or gray. or Gray, Or gris
An eminence grise, I think.
Thatcher was a pussy in comparison.

I don't think any of us are safe from Crooked's mod powers.

It's like living in Nazi Germany.

The term "Grammar Nazi" was used in the original post, ergo Godwin's Law was satisfied from the start.
They found him wandering round Regent's Park with a cheap bottle of sherry...

And like a fool I mixed them and it strangled up my mind, and now people just get uglier and I have no sense of time...

There should be another law that states that if someone mentions Nazi Germany, someone will always mention Godwin after it. :P
