Great photos of Sleddale Hall, but I suspect that's not the actual Jaguar used in the film. There should be great dents running in a line down the right side, from front fender to both doors which are not on this car, plus a lot of other old body damage and rust. I thought maybe they'd taken the original and fixed it up, but the one in these photos has fix-patches in spots where Withnail's Jag didn't have dents, and no patches where it did. Unless they bought this Jag, rammed it into a bunch of stuff and left it in the rain for a couple of years to rust before filming..... ? The missing headlight and wiper would be easy to do, I suppose, but it would take a while for the empty eye socket to rust out like the one in the film.
... followed by yet another anecdote about his sensitive crimes in a punt with a chap called Norman, who had red hair and a book of poetry stained with the butter drips from crumpets.

The photos are legit. They are from a reliable source. I have seen them before on flickr. If what you say about the car is true, maybe they treated it at a later date to look more damaged.

I reckon the Jag used in filming would have come straight from the scrappers. A decent one would have been too valuable to damage and then put right again. The one in those photos looks the part though doesn't it 8)

Does anyone know anything about the actual car used?

Hmm ...well maybe not then. I probably used to know that. Other hobbies and obsessions have taken over of late.

Wow, the descriptions in the screenplay notes are fantastic. You can see the film visualises Bruce's writing perfectly. I shall go and buy a copy of the screenplay immediately to relish all this detail!! :D
