Who was your first,....???

PostPosted by Parkin » Sat Oct 27, 2007 2:36 am

Just wondered what was the first LP/single, or CD/download (for the younger members) you ever bought ??? ,.. not given or recieved, but had actually bought with your own hard earned cash from working down the mines, up chimneys or doing a paper round,..

My first LP was 'Baggy Trousers' by Madness,.. and first single was 'Ghost Town' by The Specials,.. ,.. got them at the same time as I'd cleaned plenty of chimneys that week ,.

Jesus Christ on a crutch! How am I supposed to remember that?

Could have been Zager & Evans 'In the Year 2525' I suppose. Or 'Timothy" by the Buoys, just because my dad told me NOT to buy it. He thought it was about cannibalism. Dumb fuck.

I'm fifty in a month (or two) in case you were trying to add on your fingers.

OMD were a good band. Particulary the earlier stuff.

I'm not going to tell you the first record I bought because it is too embarrassing.

Though, funnily enough, I do remember buying 'Joan of Arc' by OMD very early on.

Worth a listen on itunes: 'Joan of Arc', 'Electricity', 'Maid of Orleans', 'Souvenir', 'Enola Gay'.

Old music pisses over new music.
